Derik Holtmann started his photojournalism career at the The Telegraph in Alton, Illinois and is currently working at the Belleville News-Democrat. His work has been published in numerous publications around the world and has received awards from the Associated Press, Illinois Press Association, Southern Illinois Editors Association, and National Speleological Society.
